There’s a new music genre in the airwaves – it’s called Chief music.

​

Chief, whose real name is Deonte' Wren, is a 24 year old Minneapolis native. When he was nine he relocated to Atlanta with his older brother, sister, and mother. He grew up playing basketball, running track, and playing football, where he excelled. But,

around the age of 11, something new caught his attention.

During the early 2000s, Atlanta emerged as the world’s Hip-Hop capital. Inspired by artists like Outkast, Field Mob, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Nas, Chief started rapping as a hobby.When Chief finished high school, he attended Clark Atlanta University for a half semester before enrolling at Albany State University to play football. His sports dreams came to a sudden halt when his step-brother, Steven “Flame” Arnold, passed from an asthma attack. Distraught and unfocused, Chief bounced around between the homes of family and friends for two years.

When his father, Edward Wren, passed in 2012 from cancer, Chief was reinvigorated in his musical pursuit. No one supported Chief’s music dreams more than his father, so he dedicated his life to it.

Chief music is the people’s music. It's for everyone who has ever dreamed, struggled, loved, and lost. It’s for everyone who enjoys life. Chief knows that God created him to make music to inspire and he’s determined to be obedient.

Starting May, Chief is hitting the road with his Chief Militia crew. Stay tuned for his "High Gravity" mixtape coming Summer '13 and his self-titled album "It's Chief" coming at the end of the year.
